We’re a company dedicated to promoting tea culture in Estonia. Since 2004, we have been importing quality and rare loose-leaf teas into Estonia and trying to spread the word that good teas are at least as important as good wine and deserve the same consideration. Tea – beyond being the world’s most-consumed beverage after water, can also be a culinary delight when prepared and served properly. It offers a rich world of surprising tastes, an opportunity to stay focused and calm, plus good health!
We supply some of the country’s finest restaurants, hotels and spas with teas, we make provide gift options for companies, we love to host tea tastings and events and serve a passionate and ever-growing personal clientele. We’re always open to new and creative partnerships. We have been encouraged by people’s passion to discover the world of good tea and pleased to see the positive contribution it has had on their lives.
We invite you to join us on this journey…
I remember making lots of tea for myself and others as a young, health-conscious lad but until the mid-1990s I was quite satisfied with Lipton’s and Sleepytime teabags. Then again I also considered Baby Duck a fine enough wine (it’s a hideously sweet and wonderfully cheap white wine available in Canada, often young teenagers’ first introduction to the world of wine).
By the mid-1990s, a small tea wave was arriving to the shores of North America after the tidal wave of Coffee/Café Culture. Loose-leaf teas and strange blends like genmaicha intrigued me and I slowly drifted deeper and deeper into the ever-widening world of tea.
My voyages as a travel writer exposed me to magnificent teas and different tea cultures, both serious and frivolous. I studied it wherever I could – taking courses, reading books, tasting and appreciating.
By 2003 I sensed my travel writer days were nearing their end and I was open to undertaking new challenges. One day when I heard myself complain one too many time about the poor selection of teas in Estonia and why no one was importing select teas, I answered myself: “Stop complaining and do it yourself!” Thus, the concept of FirstFlush was born – a company with a personal approach to tea whose goal was to quietly propagandise tea culture in Estonia…
I drink tea all day long and am thrilled to be immersed in a world where there is something fascinating and new to learn about every day. Tea is as challenging as it is inspirational. Tea to me is many things. It is meditation in a cup; an opportunity to calm the mind and focus. It offers health and a sense of well-being. And it is a direct link between mankind and nature, highlighting the relationship which exists between the two and proving what indeed appears a universal law: what you give out, you get back. How you treat the tea during preparation will directly affect its outcome and you’ll get either a fragrant, delicious cup tasting of love, or a bitter, spiteful one. It all depends on what you put into it. Such as with life in all other ways…
Negatiivset on seal vähe. No võibolla ainult pakiteed. :)
